Internet was open for commercial use in 1991.  Thousands of business of set up shops at websites.

E-commerce basics

typically refers to business transactions that are conducted electronically over a computer network.  Encompasses all of business and marketing processes enabled by internet and web technologies.  Things sold range from physical products, digital products, and services.

some websites include www.shopsueyboutique.com. mostly shipped through postal services or parcel delivery services.

making payments by applying the product to a shopping cart that keeps product on somewhat of a reserve from the shopper.

physical products- cars, shoes, clothes, etc.

digital products- news, music, videos, database, software, etc.  can be transformed into bits and delivered over the web.  Consumers can get them immediately upon completing their orders, no one pays shipping cost.

www.cnn.com  or apps on cell phone like newsletter from argentina just a low rate of 2.99 for the app.

online autions that anyone can be involved in through www.ebay.com

making online payments through person-to-person, one-time-use credit card, or electronic wallet.  One time use payment solution through wiring over the internet or through credit card information.  All the information is encrypted so that the other individual doesn’t see your credit card information.  One-time-use credit card also keeps credit card information private and allows you to make a one time payment with that credit card number.  An electronic wallet also called a digital wallet software that stores billing and shipping information, which can finalize an e-commerce purchase.  Especially handy when doing shopping online during the holiday season.

Purchasing a new Computer

Posted by: jocelynowens on: October 28, 2009

The desktop with all the options needed from best buy is from Averatac for $399.99 it comes highly recommended from customers and is moderatly new with all aspects needed.

Office Depot Hp Pavillon for $429.99

Both computers are great choices but the one that catches my attention is the Hp Pavillon for $429.99.  The product comes with plenty of space to save videos and many applications to write papers for classes.  The desk space the monitor takes up is close to what a hard cover book would take up leaving enough room to leave the book on the desk without having to shift things around.  The speakers allow for optimum sound when watching movies or videos to create some type of mock television viewing of whatever you want.  By the computer coming with 6 ports already the amount of things you can hook up to the computer at once is endless seeing as that you may want to download interesting things on your ipod.  The computer also has a great CD/DVD player that allows you to print your own labels for the needed things that may have been placed on cd.  The computer comes highly recommended by me and lots of other customers but the history of the product along provides for good standing.

Upgrading a Computer

Posted by: jocelynowens on: October 28, 2009

Since her computer monitor is so prehistoric I would suggest getting that upgraded first since its the easiest to handle.  See can go on bestbuy or office max website for a plethora of obtains to choose from.

The monitor is top rated of the monitors on the bestbuy website.  Compaq 19″ flat screen for $129.99.  For more space on the screen she could go for the 22″ LG that also gets top ratings.

Next thing she can upgrade is the memory on the computer because the space is so small and will quickly fill if the computer is used to store pictures, videos, or games.  The website i recommend she use is best buy with the large selection of different items with customer opinion linked to each brand.  The brand that came widely recommended for extra memory space is Memory Master for $79.99 for two memory slots which is about $40.00 a piece.

Lastly she can upgrade graphic card to allow her to have better graphics on the computer for various games or videos.  Best buy is still the recommended site with a graphic card update for $99.99 by Galaxy.

Web and E-mail

Posted by: jocelynowens on: October 7, 2009

The chapter that I was most interested in learning the most about is the web and e-mail.  Learning about the way the web works will make it much easier to navigate my way around and be able to explain things to people easier.  The types of e- mail tools has always interested also.
